Gorillaz are an alternative band that have released many songs that dip into many different genres. They are an incredibly prolific band, whose ubiquity has persuaded many popular artists to collaborate with them. Although they delve into genres such as rap and dance, they are predominately known for their electronic tunes and Damon Albarn's haunting voice. The variety of colours used also reinforces the wide cariety of genres that the band covers. The band consists of Damon and Jamie Hewlett, who created the whole project, with instruments played by many of other musicians. Instead of using their own face in the videos and promotions, Hewlett animated four characters who make up the band: (From top left clockwise on top image) Murdoch, 2D, Russell, Noodle. There is an ongoing story told through the narratives of the songs and music videos which has never been fully explained by Albarn and Hewlett and is left open for interpretation.
The Digipack suits the band's nature because it has all the band members on it, and in the bottom image all the characters are pulling amusing faces which suit the nature of their characters perfectly, if the customer already has pragmatic knowledge of their music videos. The design is simplistic and clean, rather like the songs they release. Even the album title in itself is obscure and the whole product creates a sense of intrigue and mystery.
