In the opening shots of the music video, there is a title of the video name. This is a typical convention of a mainstream music video, as it is often the more iconic and heavily produced videos that state the artist name and song name in the video. There is no mention of who produced the video, but the blatant inclusion of Sony advertising clears any confusion as to who is funding the video.
The room she is staying in is strangely tidy; although this could be because it is her boyfriend’s bedroom. A tidy bedroom doesn’t really fit in with the rebellious team image she is trying to maintain. This could, however, represent the change in target audience she has made over the recent years; she used to be a punk-rock icon when she released Sk8er Boi, but has converted to appeal to a more mature, mainstream pop genre.
However, with that in mind, the music video and lyrics to the song are retrospective, as she is regaining the rebellious image she conveyed in her earlier videos. She is wearing clothes that are reminiscent of her older days; she wears baggy clothes with bright colours and she has coloured streaks dyed into her hair. She also steals a taxi, runs away from her boyfriend the whole time, making him pay for the clothes she walks out of a shop with and making obscene finger gestures towards the camera and all her critics.
