Avril Lavigne Advertisement Analysis #2

In this particular advert, Avril is stood in a slightly masculine stance that isn't often adopted by cover girls. She looks like she has her hands on her hips, making no effort to conceal her intolerance for doing something she doesn't want to do. This could be paired with the impatient scowl she directs at the camera. However, this is something of a paradox in itself; not many true punk-girls would pose for a mainstream magazine like Billboard, but perhaps in her doing so she was attempting to reinforce her image of being completely original and zany.

She is wearing a T-shirt with a screaming face on it which demonstrates the fact that she isn't afraid to stir up controversy and offend people. She still has the streaks in her hair and her mascara is excessively applied, creating quite an unnerving gaze that she focuses solely towards the camera.
